Premium and Budget Shipping Options

Sportlots customers will now have two shipping options available to them when purchasing trading cards in our fixed priced stores format. Customers will be able to choose from Premium and Budget shipping options.

Premium Shipping: When a customer selects the premium shipping option, the seller will be required to ship trading cards in either a bubble mailer or a cardboard box if the quantity of cards deems this necessary. Within the bubble mailer, the cards must be further protected by one of the following methods:

Individually protected with top loaders or Semi Rigid holders. (Top loaders should be taped at the top)

Within a team bag and secured on either side by two top loaders or cardboard to protect against dings.

Plastic card box taped together to prevent the case from opening up.

If the cards are lost in the mail or damaged in shipping, the seller is expected to resolve the issue with the customer.

Budget Shipping: When a customer selects the budget shipping option, the seller will have the flexibility to find alternative ways to ship cards with less expensive shipping materials and lower postage cost. Some level of protection is still expected, but with this option there is a greater risk of damaged cards in the mail.

If the cards are lost in the mail, the seller is expected to resolve this issue with the customer. However, if the cards are damaged in the mail, the customer takes responsibility for this added risk in order to reduce their shipping costs. It is up to the customer to determine if the difference in postage costs is worth the risk of damaged cards in the mail.

Premium Threshold: The seller has the ability to set a Premium Threshold amount. When a total order goes over this threshold amount, the system will force the customer to select the Premium shipping option. If sellers want to always ship under the Premium shipping method, they can accomplish this by setting their Premium Threshold to a penny.

Mixing Premium and Budget shipping methods: When a customer has an order with multiple sellers, the customer has the ability to set Premium or Budget shipping methods differently between each seller. A customer may want to mix these methods from seller to seller because:

High/Low confidence level with a particular seller.

Varying differences in the value of the cards between sellers.

Varying differences in the quantity of the cards between sellers.

Varying differences between the premium and budget prices between sellers.

Other reasons??

Adjusting your Premium and Budget shipping methods: Sportlots always defaults to the Budget shipping method. Customers have the ability to make adjustments to this in their shopping cart. Once the order is created, shipping methods can no longer be changed.

When using the combine orders feature, if there are cards from the same seller in both orders and the shipping methods differ, the Premium shipping method is assumed.
