Overview
Sportlots provides an online environment for selllers to sell individual trading cards to customers for a pre determined price established by the seller.
Collector's can browse Sportlots inventory and place a single order for one or more cards from one or more sellers. After an order is complete and payment has been made to Sportlots, sellers are notified via email that they have an order to fill.
Sellers are expected to fill and ship orders within 5 business days of receiving an order notification.
Loading your cards
Sportlots provides a fully loaded set and player name database with sets from 1948 to present for baseball, football, basketball and hockey. In most situations, Sportlots dealers only need to enter the quantity and the price they want for each card in the set. Sportlots recommends that dealers have their cards sorted by set, but we also offer a load by player name option for dealers who have their cards sorted by player. All cards can be defaulted to a common price, so sellers should only have to enter prices for star and minor star cards.
Sportlots will enforce a 18 cent minimum price for all cards.
Sportlots load screens are built for speed so sellers can get a large volume of cards entered quickly.
Setting up your profile
Sportlots allows sellers several options when it comes to postage rates, volume discount rates and how sellers want to be reimbursed for sales on Sportlots.
Postage rates:
Postage is calculated based on how many cards a buyer purchases from a seller. As the volume of cards increases, the amount the seller should charge per card should decrease. Most sellers on Sportlots specialize in filling sets for buyers. Because most of the cards sellers sell are lower priced commons, it is important to try to keep postage rates a low as possible to sell these types of cards. Sellers have access to shipping ideas to help safely ship cards at a reasonable price.
Volume discounts:
Filling sets can be a costly task for collectors when they need to fill alot of cards in a set. Sellers have the ability to set volume discount rates to make this cost for collectors more affordable.
When selling common cards, the majority of the cost to the sellers is the time to sort, inventory and pull the cards for the collector. This cost is more than the actual value of the card. This cost is greater when there are many single card orders versus less very large orders. Volume discounts save the seller time and this can be passed on to the collector in the way of volume discounts.
Volume discounts are set-up to allow the seller to set a percentage off the entire order for different quantity ranges. For example, a seller may offer 5% off for orders between 10-25 cards and 10% off for orders between 25-50 cards.
Getting Paid
Early each month, Sportlots calculates seller payments based on orders filled the previous month. When calculation has been completed, Sportlots will send payment to each of the sellers. Sellers recevie 100% of the postage they charged and Sportlots deducts a fee based on a percentage of sales for the month. This percentage varies depending on the amount of sales generated that month. The higher the sales, the lower the percentage.
Sellers can get paid 3 ways:
1)Paypal payment: Regardless of amount, the seller will be paid each month
2)Check: If the sellers total amount is over $25, Sportlots will cut a check to the seller, otherwise the amount will be put in credit. Any amount in credit can be used immediately to purchase cards on the site, or can be cashed out once the total in credit is greater than $25.
3)Credit: If this is selected, the sellers total will go into credit. You can use this money at anytime to purchase cards, or once the total amount is over $25 in this credit, payment can be requested via check or Paypal.
